Photo Image Transfer Workshop
In this six hour workshop, you will explore a number of techniques using both digital and traditional methods to produce mixed media collage artworks. You will work with the artist on two 8" by 10" artworks on wood panel and two approx. 4" by 4" image transfer on stone that you will take home with you. This workshop is suitable for both the beginner, as well as experienced photographer/artists. This workshop consists of one (approx.) six hour session .The workshop takes place at the Lens Work work studio near Carlaw and Dundas St. ,Toronto.
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW:
This workshop focuses on the art of digital/traditional collage where the emphasis is on textures and composition. You are encouraged to bring a range of household items ,such as : interesting papers, fabric and other items .Recycling is the word... look for magazines, old books,music sheets, printed matter, mesh, rice papers, old letters, interesting papers, photograph you can part with, unsuccessful paintings , cheesecloth, fabric, anything you would like to use ...use your imagination !
ALSO...all your images either taken by your camera/phone ...and also images you have sourced from the web.
If you don't have anything...don't worry...all supplies will be provided.
You will work on two wood panel pieces and two stone pieces.
TECHNIQUES explored:
-digital scanning & printing ...using everyday printer/scanner
-digital image editing software and Ipad/tablet/phone 'apps' used for image creation/editing/collage
-printed image transfer with gel medium on to wood panel & stone
-paint & ink application to artworks
ITINERARY
• Introductions. Editing tools. Apps and computer programs. Scanning images, planning design
• break for lunch (while images are printed)
• Transfer of images to substrate. Paper removal and adding elements.
• Further finishing, adding elements and applying a 'finish' to the pieces.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED: nothing! All supplies provided.
COST: $150 -includes two 8'" by 10" on wood panel and two 4" by 4" on stone artworks that you have produced
TIME: 10am-5pm
